Massages for Kids (under 16)
I noticed that kids today experience a different level of stress due to current issues of the world. Along with mental stress, young athletes are being pushed harder than any generation before them. Their bodies need care as would an adult body while exercising at a high level.
Massage can help to reduce stress and anxiety levels by promoting relaxation and calming the nervous system by:
Improving sleep: Adolescents often struggle with getting enough sleep, which can have a negative impact on their mental and physical health. Massage can help to promote better sleep by relaxing the body and mind.
Relieving muscle tension and soreness: Adolescents who are active in sports or other physical activities may experience muscle tension and soreness. Massage can help to relieve this tension and soreness, which can improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Boosting immune function: Massage can help to stimulate the lymphatic system, which can improve immune function and help the body fight off illness.
Enhancing mood: Massage can stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural mood enhancers. This can help to improve overall mood and reduce feelings of depression or anxiety.
Overall, massage can offer a range of benefits to adolescents, promoting both physical and mental well-being. I also teach light breathwork and foam rolling if necessary - life tools to have as they grow.
It is important to consult with a healthcare professional before beginning any new health regimen, including massage therapy. For children 16 and under a parent or legal guardian will need to be present for the duration of the massage. The parent or legal guardian will need to sign a consent form for anyone under 18.
